Sensors create islands of connectivity
The implementation of IoT into the manufacturing processes is leading us into a situation where our physical world is being more and more harnessed, analyzed and automated through information systems. This is what the article, “Smart Fabrication” by FFJournal, states. “Consider how many disparate machines – from material handling to finishing¬ could produce information through Wi-Fi-equipped sensors, streaming real-time data to a company’s central dashboard where a supervisor can optimize processes.” Even though the IoT works closely with Internet, the machines are not all the time linked into it – instead, they form “islands of connectivity,” where information flows from a sensor to another.
